The big day has passed, but the memories, and the excitement to see the photos, remain! And along with them comes an important moment: choosing which images go into the wedding album. Many people end up putting off this choice for months, but with a few simple tips, you'll be able to put together a timeless, moving album.
1. Be intentional
Remember the album's main purpose: to keep the story of this special day forever. Choose photos that convey emotion, ones that even years later still make you feel that moment again.
2. Focus on the two of you
The wedding is about the couple, so the album's main focus should be the two of you! One tip is to print the extra photos that didn't make the album and put together a "mini album" to keep those memories without crowding the main album's layout.
3. Split the selection into stages
Looking through hundreds of photos all at once can be exhausting! Split the selection by moments of the wedding: one day for the getting-ready photos, another for the ceremony, another for the reception and party. That way you can go through them calmly, without rushing.
4. Select by elimination
A trick that works really well is eliminating the photos you don't want first, instead of trying to pick favorites right away. Start by removing the ones that are repeated, out of focus, or simply don't move you as much. In the end, the best ones will naturally be the ones left!
5. Balance candid and classic photos
Candid photos are wonderful, but a complete album also needs a few classic, essential images: getting ready, the couple's entrance, the ring exchange, decoration, photos with the wedding party, cutting the cake, the first dance, and the fun moment on the dance floor.
